Rev. Felica R. Thompson is a native of Washington, DC born to the late Franklin D. Raines and Evangelist Shirley Lassiter Edwards. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has always had a passion for education and mentoring. Prior to entering ministry fulltime, Rev. Felica was a High School Business Education teacher and Varsity Cheerleading coach with Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh, North Carolina. Rev. Thompson preached her trial sermon on September 22, 2002, at Simon Temple A.M.E. Zion Church subsequently receiving her Deacon’s Ordination in January of 2006 and her Elder’s Ordination in January of 2008. She currently serves as the Women of Excellence Ministry Director at Simon Temple A.M.E Zion Church, a ministry that she started in August 2004. The mission of this ministry is to reach women of all ages and from all walks of life with the goal of encouraging one another, while fostering a sense of sisterhood and accountability among the women of God. She also serves as the National Co-Director of YACM (Young Adults in Christian Ministry) of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church with her husband. She just released a new book, entitled “Free To Be Me,” available on Amazon now. She is a contributing author in “Embrace Your Purpose” and “Dear Future Bride: FIFTY LETTERS TO THE BRIDE TO BE.” Her article “It’s Not About Us” was published in the Good News Magazine January/February 2016 edition. She is a member of the Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the National Council of Negro Women. She is also on the Board of Directors at the Child Advocacy Center of Cumberland County, and a recipient of The Old North State Award.Rev. Thompson has 10+ years of experience as a Radio Talk Show Host. The Free To Be Me Radio Show airs live every Thursday at 11:00 am EST on WIDU1600.com. The show features guests from all walks of life who share their testimonies of being set free in many areas of life; whether it be sickness, unhealthy relationships, mental and physical abuse, going through career changes and a variety of subjects. It features weekly empowerment quotes and discussions on a wide range of different topics and current issues that have bound and continue to bind women and men. The show also highlights authors, local businesses, for-profit and non-profit organizations in the Fayetteville community and the surrounding areas. She is the Founder and CEO of Felica Thompson Ministries, Incorporated, a non-profit organization designed to help others realize their full potential through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ by: • Proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ in order that persons will commit their lives to Him by faith through the confession and repentance of sin. • Providing opportunities for the maturation of others through preaching and teaching, while coaching them to pursue their God given purpose and destiny. • Empowering persons from all walks of life by providing destiny driven empowerment luncheons, breakfasts, seminars, conferences, and symposiums that focus on personal development, while providing kingdom networking opportunities. • Utilizing the airways through the weekly Free To Be Me Radio Show, and social media outlets to inspire, encourage and uplift. She is married to Rev. Brian R Thompson, Sr., Pastor at Simon Temple A.M.E Zion Church located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They are the proud parents of Alexis and Brian II.
